A Christmas Carol

Rehearsals will begin in October and will be based on actor's availability.

There will be doubling (tripling?) of characters where needed.

Narrator 1 - One of two narrators that are with us throughout the play F or M, Teen or Adult
Narrator 2 - One of two narrators that are with us throughout the play F or M, Teen or Adult
Scrooge – An older man with a heart so cold he is the penultimate “Scrooge”
Bob Cratchit – Late 20’s or older male. Scrooge’s beleaguered clerk
Fred – Scrooge’s nephew and only child of Scrooge’s dead sister Fan. 20’s
Charitable Collector - A collector for local charitable causes. Any age m/f

Adam – A young street urchin. 10ish or early teens m/f
Marley’s Ghost - Scrooge’s deceased business partner, loud and terrifying
Ghost of Christmas Past – ageless, timeless, spectral, radiant, creepy
Scrooge as a boy – A youth, around 10 years old?
Fan – Scrooge’s beloved sister. Seen on stage as a young girl. In later years she marries and dies giving birth to her only child Fred.
Schoolmaster - Young Scrooge’s schoolmaster, very proper.
Mayo (Fezziwig) - Scrooge’s employer, a jolly old elf
Scrooge as a young man – Scrooge in his early 20s
Dick Williams – Young Scrooge’s pal Mayo’s mill. Early 20’s, fun loving, a Victorian “bro.”
Belle – A young woman betrothed to Scrooge who wisely dumps him when Scrooge’s heart turns cold.
Ghost of Christmas Present – The embodiment of the Christmas spirit
Mrs.Cratchit – Married to Bob and mother to her 4 kids. Defender of the family and the strong centerpost that holds up the household.
Martha – The Cratchit’s oldest daughter, late teens early 20’s?
Peter – The Cratchit’s oldest son, but younger than Martha. Teens
Belinda – The Cratchit’s youngest daughter. 10ish?
Tim – The Cratchit’s youngest son with a debilitating and chronic medical condition. Treatable, but otherwise fatal. 10ish?
Milly – Married to Scrooge’s nephew Fred. 20’s
Mankind’s Children – Ignorance and Want are two young children, under 10. They are wretched, frightening, and pitiable.
Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come – Wrapped in darkness, the grim reaper or Scrooge’s Guardian angel?
Businessperson 1 - M/F adult
Businessman 3 – M/F adult
Businessman 2 – Adult early 20’s, male
Charwoman – A house cleaner who cleaned out the house after Scrooge’s death.
Dibler – Scrooge’s laundress. After Scrooge dies, she creates her own severance package.
Undertaker’s Man – He helped prepare Scrooge’s body for his funeral and burial and helped prepare his own bonus.
Old Joe - A fence receiving stolen property for resale. Older, nasty, a grifter and cheat
