Column Work 2026

Center Theatre Project Photo 1 (1) (1).jpg

The picture to the right shows the column and wall that is being worked on at the Center Theatre. The column had originally been scheduled for repair in 2020, but engineering issues meant the work had to be delayed.  After further study by our engineers the scope had to be expanded and the price of the work increased dramatically. The final project budget is close to $160,000.  Most of the money came from a grant from the RevitalizeME program of the Maine Development Foundation and the Stephen and
Tabitha King Foundation, with other support from USDA Rural Development, Maine Preservation, and private donors.

The work is being down by Knowles Industrial Services Corp. and began on October 28th. Knowles will first be constructing a scaffolding system from the ground all the way up to the Theatre roof to provide safe and convenient access to all areas.

We expect that at some point during the first few weeks there will be some loud noise coming from the worksite and we've apprised neighboring residents and businesses about that. The contractors will also be taking up 6 parking spaces in the Theatre parking lot.

The work is expected to continue approximately 6 weeks baring any complications. We'll be posting pictures and videos of the work here and on our social media channels. If you have any questions about the project, please call the Theatre at (207)564-8943 or email info@centertheatre.org.
